“Good golfers have to get over the notion that they only want to win by hitting perfect shots. They have to learn to enjoy winning ugly. And that entails acceptance of all the shots they hit, not just the good ones.” - Bob Rotella

💡 Mental Reset 💡
My golf game, specifically my iron game, feels like garbage. I went to the range today, and it was hot garbage again. I could NOT figure it out, and it got worse as the session went on. It’s sad to admit, but it is one of the most helpless feelings when your swing feels lost.
I know what I would tell someone else to do. Things like: Remain calm, it’s not that bad, go back to the basics, do some drills, get a lesson, you’ll be fine! Etc. But when dealing with myself, it’s harder to be objective.
The tweet below from @joshlukenichols helped me take a step back and re-evaluate.
Josh reminded me that I need to take a breath and accept how the last few rounds and range sessions went. I’m pissed, but that’s not going to help my game. I need to focus on the issue (steep swing, not turning), work on my drills to emphasize the fixes, be patient, and remember all the good stuff in my game.
Hopefully, I’m not alone in this! But remember, when things are going bad, take a step back. It’s never that bad.
🐦 Tweets of the Week 🐦
Nelly Korda’s swing is so pure. I’d give anything to have that tempo and swing plane.
This video from Jonathan Yarwood is a good watch for those who lift their arms in the swing without turning and engaging the body. Hand up here!

Last week, I included a clip of Rick Shiels working with Dan Grieves on short game shots. This is the whole video, and it’s full of excellent insights.
It’s over an hour long, so if you don’t want to watch the entire thing, at least watch the setup portion around 11:00 minutes in.
Homa’s swing is another effortless-looking swing like Nelly Korda’s. Luke Kerr-Dineen does another excellent breakdown of Max’s swing and what makes it so good.
📊 Poll of the Week 📊
The video below from @mrcarter233 asks an interesting hypothetical. Could you win The Masters if you started on the green? The only caveat is your ball has to start at the furthest spot from the pin. Putting only.
I thought about this for way too long. I don’t think I could. To beat Scottie, you would need to average just under four putts a hole (3.83, to be exact). I think there would be A LOT of 4 and 5 putts.
