Cooler Weather
For many of us, shorter days and cooler temperatures are approaching. Most of us know that colder temperatures mean less distance and warmer temperatures mean more distance. But I never really knew HOW much distance.
Below, Andrew Rice has a great graphic showing the math behind temperature and distances.
So 75 degrees is the baseline.
For every 10 degrees above or below 75 it’s a two carry yards difference.
For you winter golfers. 45 degrees could mean 6 yards less carry. The more you know…
🐦 Tweets of the Week: Driver Edition 🐦
This video from Jon Sherman details how the loft on your driver isn’t all the same and it can drastically affect distance off the tee.
Hitting the ball off the bottom of the face not only lowers your launch angle but it drastically increases the spin rate, killing your distance.
As Jon mentions, using athlete’s foot spray is great for instant feedback on the range.
This thread from Golf Science Lab gives 8 tips for how you can gain swing speed and distance on your drives.
This isn’t for everyone, but I do think there are some really easy tweaks that can help you gain distance.
One underrated tweak is flaring out your feet. This allows the hips to rotate without restriction, leading to a longer and faster swing.
Check out the full thread.
Kyle Berkshire is a freak. But we can still learn some things from his swing. In the video above from Mike Carroll, you can see why Kyle generates so much speed despite not being a huge guy. Check it out. Link

This is another video from Golf Side Kick, this time on how to break 80.
The 4-6-8 idea is a cool mental trick that I will definitely be trying out.
Okay, here's one final video related to increasing swing speed. If you haven’t heard of The Stack or are interested in trying it, this is a must-watch.
Soly from No Laying Up interviews Dr. Sasho MacKenzie, the creator of The Stack. As mentioned, I’ve used The Stack, which works.
Sasho does a great job explaining why and how it works and dispels the usual worries, like whether it will make you less accurate off the tee.
