Wedge Warm Ups
Jon Sherman leads off the letter for two straight weeks. But I couldn’t agree more with Jon here. I used to go right to full shots, starting with wedges, irons, woods, and finally, my driver.
Now, I start with a few chip shots and move to 50-yard shots, then 75, and finally 100 with my full wedge.
I’ve found that this not only helps me loosen up better but also helps me mentally.
Often I would go right to full swings and hit a crappy shot. This would lead to me swinging harder and harder and getting frustrated. I’d lose tempo and confidence before the first tee.
By starting with the partial wedge shots, I am much more relaxed and less likely to screw up. My tempo is smooth, I take my time, I loosen up, and it also addresses one of the most essential parts of the game.
It then bleeds into my irons and long clubs by keeping that same tempo and feel.
Finally, I finish my warmup just like I started with chip shots, 50 and 75-yard shots.

So pure.
In my opinion, this thread by Michael Kim is a must-read. Michael discusses some of the most common mistakes he sees from amateurs and how to correct them.

Johnson Wagner is back. This time, he demonstrates chip shots off hard pan lies, leaving Brandel and the crew laughing and thoroughly entertained.

📊 Poll of the Week 📊
Here are the results from last weeks Poll on the definition of “one cup left”:
Most of you said #3! I have to admit it shocked me.
As I mentioned in the last edition, I’m team #2. This means “one cup left” is the diameter of the hole from the left edge of the original cup. Just like if I said “one ball out,” I mean one ball out from the left edge.
I can see the logic of #3. You're using the starting point as the middle of the cup. We’ll have to agree to disagree.
Those of you who selected #1… well, that’s just pure insanity.
If you picked #3 or #1, please comment below on your reasoning. I’d like to hear more.
